Foam Fun at Huntingburg Library
What’s fun this summer?
Foam, of course!
Kids of all ages turned out in droves for the Huntingburg Library’s Foam Party, held on Wednesday, July 27, after being rescheduled from July 19 due to looming bad weather.
And it was worth the wait.
Foam:30 of Evansville, a new company that just started giving foam parties this past May, set up its “Foam Daddy” foam cannon on the front lawn of the Huntingburg Library after also doing the honors earlier that day at Holland Elementary School. In addition to this event, the “It’s Foam Time!” company has also given parties in Princeton and Ferdinand over the past couple of months.
The foam is created when water is mixed with a biodegradable and hypoallergenic gel similar to baby shampoo, a mixture that won’t sting the eyes. From the bottom of a 30-gallon plastic trash can, a sump pump draws the gel mixed with water up into the foam cannon.
On Wednesday, while a loudspeaker broadcast fun dance tunes, “Foam Daddy” launched billows of white bubbly foam into the crowd of squealing and laughing children.
The sun came out from behind the clouds for both the 11:00 a.m. party at Holland Elementary as well as the 2:00 p.m. party at the Huntingburg Library, alleviating fears of yet another reschedule.
Kids could wipe off the foam with towels or opt to be hosed off. Whatever foam is left after a party on the ground breaks down and disappears after a short time, causing no damage to the grass or other ground cover.
Wednesday’s foam party is just one of many fun activities provided by the Huntingburg Library this summer.
